Chile 2010 = Shilian Güei

2010 has been an important year marked by numerous things:

The first one, the celebration of a fake bicentennial, because it’s not two hundred years of Independence it’s just a loyalty act to the King; an earthquake that erased all the good summer memories, a trip to southafrica that was not much tan a short trip and a disgrace that became a public media joke with the thirty three miners in the third region.

The celebration of the bicentennial year has been marked by huge celebrations that account for an attempt to make invisible latent conflicts in our society made by a mediatic instrument (in which all oficial media are part of) that tried to create an artifficial nacional feeling, necessarily joining groups that are constantly faced, as employers and employees, workers, peasants, young and old. especially people with opposing political tendencies.

For this they have transformed the meaning of every moment of this year:

The earthquake has been saw than an opportunity to grow, like a test that only grows with the feeling of sadness and a “teletón”. The trip to the football world cup it’s considered like the result of a genius whose work is closely consistent with the triumph. And in the case of the miners were celebrating the win of living and perseverance as a unique condition of Chileans.

However the way that the president termed the Chilean way (doing things right) is just hiding the dirt under the carpet. Actually the way they have treated these events shows a “Shilian Güei”

In the case of the earthquake there is an aberrant centrism of the power which means that the inequalities are reproduced between centers and peripheries, for example the more distant localities are suffering now the consequences of this catastrophe.

In football the constant work has been accompanied by large sums of money, which seem unattainable for most Chileans. Reproducing the myth of express overcoming, “from being a child in the suburbian to be a mogul with luxury cars”. The idea is that Chileans identify with this figure, believing that there are no radical differences between these social groups.

Finally the case of the miners has been disguised as a triumph for the nation and no differences have been considered of the scandalous labor legislation. Is more important to know details of the private lives of the miners that their working conditions. The goal is that any Chilean identify with them, feel sorry for them and therefore feel gratified by the action of government.

To conclude the Chilean Bicentennial in 2010 is a "Chile" that forgets, hides, exclude and decorates. It is an effective non-existent nation-building with deep fractures that remain. Nothing that a light show at the government house can not solve. Well, “The Shilian Güei”.

Hey Guys!

I think that i must have a sabbatical year, since the two and half years i have not stopped ever in my entire life, I get in to the college the next year when i finished the school, and that is why I should have a almost two sabbatical years. (xD)

If i had a sabbatical year I would work in non well remunerated job to have a Little monet for myself, and with that Money I would go to parties, buy something like clothes, movies or spend the money in theater plays.

Also I Would like to go to the beach every weekend and sleep till my eyes open and i would spend my time doing nothing. I will watch all the movies that i want, I would go to the cinema every day to view a new movie instead if they are good or not.

I would like to travel over the world and visit every famous museum or beautiful places around the world like the niagara falls or the pyramids in Egypt or even the Taj Majal in the India.

But by the time when i finish college i will not have a sabbatical year I will have to work, earn some money and the, finally, I could have my precious free time, so I only have to wait to finally do the thing that i would do in my free time, and ge tinto a bus and dissapear in a long travel

That’s all

Hello guys! Today I’m going to write about environmental friendly practices. Actually, I’m not too active in this issue: I don’t ride a bicycle but I prefer to take a bus to use the car (well I don’t have car, so I HAVE to take a bus XD), Indeed I really think that people should use the public transport instead of particular cars, the pollution will be reduce in almost a 70% if all the people use buses instead of cars.

Also I don’t separate the garbage in my house, but when I see specific trash cans I try to. Yes, I’m a little bit lazy with these topics. However, I think that this is an important problem, so I want to incorporate some enviroment friendly practices, such as using carefully the water and the electricity: it’s so easy and is a good way to help the planet.

Also, with some friends we are working with an eco-organisation MODEMA. This group works in Punta de Choros, and some time ago they won the conflict about the installation of a dam plant in this place. This could be really harmful not only to the penguins and all the marine animals that live there, but for the people who work in the sea, like fishers and man who work with their boats, too.

In these cases I think that we -as normal persons- can`t do much about it, I mean, yes, we can say “don`t throw it to the ground, throw it out!”, “use a cycle” or “turn off the electric equipments”, but are the major company the ones who destroy our environment by the garbage that they produce and throw to the soil, the only solution it’s creating an effective law that protects the environment and the people who uses those spaces.

Hi guys! Today I`m gonna talk about my last wild party: my birthdayOn August 21st I celebrated my birthday. There were a lot of people that I love: 15 or 20. It isn’t a crowd, but they are people too important for me. With my best friend Hugo, we went to “El Cielo” off license, there we bought a lot of drinks to have a really good time at night. Then, at 11 or 12 o’clock the party begins in my sister’s house. The music was loud, and there were a lot of laughs and we were shouting of joy: yes, alcohol was doing the job.It wasn’t later than 3 am, and all the people felt good. I can`t say all the things that we did, but I`m sure that it was like a wild party. Actually, I don’t remember too much about that night, only that it was very funny and tequila was a serial killer. The consequences of the party were awful: all the house was wet with alcohol, there was a smokescreen too, and all the people with an unforgettable headache. The day after the party was very hot, I hated it! I can`t believe how my friend walked with this sun.Fortunately, anyone had a camera. So there aren’t any photographs about that night. At the moment I thought: d’oh!... but now I think that is better, I didn’t wanna see it , especially my face. xDAt last, I recommended to you don’t use confetti: if you have parquet flooring it could be a nightmare, it’s too difficult to sweep it, especially when they are wet.

the second is the music in fact, they are very atmospherical in many song, in others they are very fast, with electronic beats mixed with cool britsh rock style.

They are from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.
The band consist in Thom Yorke (Vocals, Piano/Keyboard, Guitar), Johnny Greenwood (Guitar, Keyboards, Electronic Programation, Beats, Etc...), Collin Greenwood (Bass Guitar, Synthetizers), Ed O'brien (Guitar, Percussions, Backing Vocals) And Phill Selway (Drums, Percussions).

They are playing since 1992 when they realesed their famous single "Creep" and they become acclaimed by the press their most significative album is OK Computer. With this album they won a grammy and a lot of nominations for MTV and Vh1.
They are always playing with the records company indeed they realesed their last album "In rainbows" in a "pay what you want" system on their website, becoming the first band realeasing a complete album in a Free download way.

At last I have to say that is a must hearing this guys they are part of our generation and they represent almost exactcly our century and our living ways.

Two years ago I discovered a magical place. I traveled with my firends on february to Neltume, this is a lovely place to the east of panguipulli. Yes, isn’t easy to arrive there, but the landscape Is wonderful: much of the scenery is flat, but there are a big forest and a cold lake. The silence is amazing, so you can relax and have a good time after this long weekend that has a lot of food, drink and parties.
In Neltume you can’t do much things, for somepeople this could sound boring, but for me is great! Too much time to look the birds and swiming in the lake. I remember that I was there two weeks and I had fun all the time: with my friends we walked to the lake and we taked a sunbathe with a cold beer. At nights we usually gone to the forest and walk in the darkness, with a crate of wine.
Actually I had a really good time, so I recommend it to you… you can have relaxing days listening the silence and lookin an amazing landscape with wild hourses in the meadow and fishes in the river. The best thing is that you can have a rest of the last weekend celebrations, because I think that too much party and lots of food and drinks is tiring.
Finally, I recommmend you to go to “Tres B” camping, there is Hugo, he`s is so kind, and the place is good, beautifull and cheap, as his name says.

c-h-i chi!

Actually I’m not really nacionalist. Most of the celebrations doesn`t have many sense for me, I think that most of them are for cover important problems and pretend a wrong national union.
Even though, this holiday is a general celebration. Everywhere there are many parties, and all the people are happy, excited. Lots of food and alcohol liven them up… well, liven us up.
I`m not sure where I will celebrate this holiday. I thought to be with my nephew in Santiago (he’s from Punta Arenas) and go to the refreshment stands in the Ohhigins Park. But he had a problem with the tickets, so I’m still planning what I can do. Obviously I’m going to go out with my friends, but I’m not sure if we can go to another place than Santiago; we don’t have enough money, so I think that it can’t be possible, maybe.
My mother going to travel to Talca, probably. She wants to visit my grandma. So I’m going to stay alone and I can organize some kind of parties in my house. I think that it’s not necessary to spend a lot of money in this celebration. It better “do a cow” and collects ingredients for a delicious barbecue, or turnovers.

Egypt is a place that I`ve been always interested in. I think that the oriental culture is really exciting, I really like the sun, so I`d be happy in the desert riding a camel. Also, I practice belly dance, it is a dance from the Middle East that I’d like to present there.
Some pictures of this place show that there the modern life with older culture coexist. Women’s life isn`t easy, they have to put up an intense male chauvinist society. So I don’t know if I’d live there for a long time. I`d like to visit this place but I’m not sure if I can stand too much time there. Maybe it`s only a prejudice, I`d like to know how the reality life in Egypt is staying there.
I`d like to travel with my sister, because we share a “Middle East obsession”. Also, I`ve had really good times with her, and she likes adventures. The problem is that I don`t have money to travel to Egypt. Even I’m not saving money for this purpose yet. All my money now is to travel this summer to Peru with my boyfriend and friends
.

Last term was strange. Sometimes I felt really bussy but at the same time I enjoyed it.
Last 2 years were so boring to me, many times I thought to change to another carreer, like antropology, because a lot of subjects didin´t make sense for me. But last term was different.
I had seven subjects, and I enjoyed it a lot, specially theory, politic sociology and rural sociology. I tried to read all the text for this subjects, so i had good marks.

Sometime I felt very tired, lot of days a didn`t sleep enough, i didin`t eat enough too. But I think that last term was very important dfor me, because a discover the topics that are more intyeresting for me, like political sociology. Even I follow now with an elective subject of this.

Hi everyone, I’m going to talk about my blogging experience. I like writing in blogs but I’m not very experienced in this topic. I like the way that you can tune up your blog layout but I can’t did it in my blog… but I have always like my classmate’s blogs, they were really nice and cute. I’ve really lost some time with the fishes in the teacher’s blog

Also I like the label system ( I recently discovered it) that you can organize your post in different topics and also by pictures.

Sometimes I get confused with the names of the blogs that I follow because with the blog title you cannot identify the writer (if they were classmates or someone unknown).

The blog really improved my English because I wrote about typical things in my life and I wrote also about important people, so It make my English better. And I like that you can comment the things that other people wrote.

I didn’t like the short time that we had to write in our blogs, sometime I’ve got really inspired and the time killed my inspiration to write about interesting things. And the break time was short and in that time I’ve got really hungry so I couldn’t get earlier so it make me arrive later to the English lab. It was difficult to write when it was free topics because I’ve spend many time thinking on what I was going to write and at the end I didn’t write too much.

And the computers were slow and sometimes the internet connection were down, so we couldn’t work in our blogs. But the online translators helped me winning time when I didn’t know a word

That’s what I think about blogging.

Hi Guys!
Well, I feel really interested about study the artist expressions of our society. In sociology, this isn’t a common subject, because a lot of people thinks that this isn’t relevant to discover the under view social principles. But I think that the theater could by an interesting study object, also I really enjoy it.
Few months ago I went to watch “uñas sucias”. Today I’m going to describe one of the most important thing about it:
Luis Barrales is a Chilean playwright. He raise the subjects about marginals group in society, in particular in this country, with play like “Uñas Sucias”, “Hans Pozo”, Niñas Arañas”, “Rota”, “La Mala Clase”, and others. His works are very important for Chilean theater according to the critics.
Last year, the panel of judges of Santiago a mil, selected “uñas sucias” as the best of the 2009’s selection. This staging was directed by Raul Donoso, member of the “La Popular” theater company.
“Uñas Sucias” is originally setting in a male amateur soccer team, but the company adapted it for a female cast.
The play shows a sub 20 player group, who aspire to be promoted to a professional category, and they fight to figurate in the list, that contains five selected players by the coach.
The tension and excitation atmosphere beginning with the end of the training, when they stay locked in the dressing room and have to stay together more of the time that they wish.
Also the text explore in the female way to practice this sport, the play shows –with a Harshness view- the power relations that are established inside the team through the violent word exercise .
The text was written in 2003, and opened in the national dramaturgy exhibition of this year. It was finalist.
The “La popular” company’s proposal is relative to emphasize about the marginal environment and represent the ferocity of the group’s world visions.

Juno is one of my favorites movies. The story is about a pregnant girl, who decides to give her son in adoption. I think that this movie has good photographs, the mix of images and music is nice in Jason Reitman’s work. The most beautiful photograph is that!
It shows Juno Mac Guff, a teenager from Minesota kissing Paulie Bleeker, her friend and the father of the baby, in a baseball camp. This scene is at the last of the movie, when they decide to be together, and start again. Maybe it would be appear like a really romantic story, but sometimes it turns difficult and so untraditional; the picture shows it: Ellen Page and Michael Cera’s characters are really teenager in some of their acts, but sometimes they are so mature. Their love isn’t understood for another people, like his family or her best friend, but it doesn’t matters to Juno; she demonstrates it in this photo. This picture is taken at 2006 during the movie recording. Even it wasn’t use for advertising the film, I think that is the most representative image of this movie, because it show the fundamental argument: teenagers who doesn’t interesting to live their lives according to de social rules, Juno and Paulie could be reproach for a lot of things: the teenager pregnancy, the abort intention or the adopt option; but they decide (Juno mainly) to follow their convictions.
Also, the colors of this production are lots of my favorites: orange, yellow, green and brown. It is present even in their clothes that show a negligent style in Juno, who doesn’t care about her image and considerer the music like something really important in her life. Finally, I considerer like a nice style… I love her attitude in this photo, whit her finger rased!

One of the best days of my life

Hello everyone.
Today I´m going to talk about the best concert that I’ve gone: the Radiohead’s one, last year on March 27th in the national stadium.
There was my favorite music group with a lot of special effects, but more important with their excellent music. Although I was really busy this day because I had to do a lot of things for my classes, I went with my friends. We arrived to the place at 1 o’clock in the afternoon even though it was a really hot day, because we were very excited with the first visit of Radiohead to Chile. Although that we were there early, there were a lot of people before us, included another friend who arrives to the national stadium at 8 o’clock in the morning.
We waited about 4 hours in the street, drinking a lot of water and eating sandwiches, even talking about some songs that we really like. 15 or 20 minutes past 5 the doors were open, and all the people ran to find the best place to see the show. Although we ran faster that we can, we didn’t arrive to the beginning of the courtL. But we were in a really nice place where we looked the concert.
In this time, Radiohead played one of my favorite songs, House of cards. I was really excited, even I wanted to cry, and get loud. I felt very strange, is a combination of a good feeling and a terrible one. Went the concert ends I didn’t want to go, even though that all the people were walking out.

Hi guys!
I have to tell you that I don’t really like technological objects. In fact, I don’t have more than a cell phone and a MP3. Well, I have a laptop too, but it’s so old and doest work very well, the battery has important problems, so I don’t use it common.
The most technological item that I have had was a MP4, but it died four days later. I think that this types of objects doesn’t like me L
Actually, I conserve my 7th cell phone (I hope to live with it for a long time). It is a Nokia Xpress Music. I really like it, because is easy to use and has a lot of qualities, like an excellent system to reproduce music, it takes nice photos and always has signal, even when I go to visit my family in San Javier. Also, it has a big memory, there I save all the important things to my, like photos with my friends, their cell phone numbers and music that I enjoy. And the most important this is so light and thin, like the photo shows.
As I said before, I’m not very technological so I considerer like amazing things that to other people could be normal. For example, send archives by Bluetooth is an incredible system, that permitting to transfer documents, photos or videos to another cell free. In this way you can share your likes with friends. This is the quality that I prefer of the cell phone that my mother gives to me on last Christmas.

Hi again!

Today is the day to talk about the rice in prices of the transantiago ticket. In the last month the prices of the student ticket has rice twenty pesos: the usually $130 pesos are now $150, this is the price that you have to pay the first time that you arrive to a bus or to the subway, and you have two hours to travel in three different ways with this ticket.
But, most important to the cost that this could produce in every people who use this transport method, is the advertising campaign that the government impulse before, to justify the rice in the ticket prices. Since Wednesday or Tuesday of the last week, diaries publish notices relatives to the boom the evaders that affect the system, that were agree to the information divulge to the most important TV medias, that are related with the right government. In this way, the authority avoids the responsibility of the wrong accomplishment of the transport system and they maintain the images of efficiency that is based the government. The advertising campaign pretends to accuse the evaders like the blame of a structural failure that consist in an implementation problem and difficultly could be resolve quickly.
The big truth is that the transantiago is a destabilize system, so the solution isn’t the public resources injection, that’s the reason of continues rice of the transport ticket.

I really like Habermas’s work. Really I don´t admire his theory, but I think that is interesting to make different critics or sometimes be agree in some points.
He is a sociologist and philosopher from Germany, who born in 1929. Also, he studied psychology, history, economy and literature. His work is based on the historic materialism reconstruction. So is an interesting answer for some problems of the Marx’s theory, specifically about the distance of the technical progress and the human emancipation: he tries to make a hypothesis about the growing social domination despite de technological innovations. In this way, he introduces another dimension to the praxis: symbolic interaction
I like Habermas’s work, because is a complete attempt to enlarge the most important modern theory about society: the historic materialism. For this, he star with an analysis of the social action, and introduce a new concept: the communicative action.
But I think that sometimes his approach is distance to the origin with his communicative action theory. There, this author constructs his ideas based in languages studies. So, is easy to confuse what is the connection with his critic to the historical materialism.

Hi everyone!

Hi guys, I´m Catalina and this is my first blog. The name is result of my favorite music band - Radiohead- with some modifications.
I´m twenty, and I study sociology, I really like it now, but in the past I didn´t like it too much. Also, I really like the theatre, so I try to go every weekend. My favorite play is “Jorge Gonzalez Murió” and “uñas sucias, I recommend that because in my opinion these have interesting arguments connected with social critique.
In this place I hope to write tips of some things that I love, like theatre, music or parties. And know my classmates and their likes.
